Seared Sesame Ahi Tuna

Here's my favorite type of recipe: super healthy, easy to make, and DELICIOUS. Like, so good, I didn't believe that I made it. ANYWAY... Here it is!

Serves: 4

Prep Time: 1 minute

Optional Marinating Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. yellowfin tuna steaks

  • 3 Tbsp. coconut aminos

  • 1 Tbsp. toasted sesame oil

  • 1 Tbsp. honey

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil

  • Garnish: green onion and toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the coconut aminos, sesame oil, honey, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper until thoroughly combined.

  2. Place the ahi tuna steak in the large bowl with marinade and cover both sides with the liquid. Optional: cover bowl with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator for 10 minutes.

  3. Heat a large skillet on medium-high heat for about 4 minutes. Once the skillet is very hot, add the olive oil.

  4. Place tuna on the skillet and sear for 2-3 minutes each side.

  5. Remove the seared tuna from the pan and move it to a cutting board to rest for about 3 minutes.

  6. Slice the tuna steaks into 1/2 inch slices and serve garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.
